The Conservative Group on Cornwall Council have welcomed the decision taken by the council yesterday to invest £10.3m in the Spaceport Cornwall project.
Commenting, Conservative Group Leader Linda Taylor said:
“We are absolutely delighted to see councillors vote at Full Council for this £10.3million investment into Cornwall.”
“This project is a strong collaborative effort between central government, local government and the private sector, and has already attracted funding from the Government via the strong and persistent campaigning of St Austell and Newquay Parliamentary Candidate Steve Double.”
“We were delighted to do our bit, and saw support from councillors across the chamber, regardless of party politics (apart from Mebyon Kernow), to bring this fantastic project closer to reality.”
“The economic benefits for Spaceport Cornwall could be transformational for the area in terms of high paid, high skilled jobs, and there is also the priceless impact on the aspirational future for our children and grandchildren as we sit at the dawn of the second space age.”
“A courageous decision which I thank the team at Cornwall Council or making the case for and all councillors, regardless of political allegiance, who voted for it.”
