Steve Double, Member of Parliament for St Austell and Newquay has welcomed today’s announcement by the Department of Health and Social Care that Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust is being awarded more than £1m in Government funding.
The announcement sees the trust awarded a £1,397.700 capital grant from the Chancellor’s fund of £10m for Air Ambulance charities in England
Of this £837,700 is to build an extension for the operating facility, based in Steve’s Mid-Cornwall constituency, to help in increasing the clinical and operations team and extending operating hours of the helicopter from 12 to 19 hours per day, 7 days a week, year round, and save up to 2 more lives a day in Cornwall.
The remaining £500,000 is capital towards the cost of purchasing the Cornwall Air Ambulance’s new helicopter,
