The news that Cornwall Council is set to receive nearly £1000,000 in additional funding from the Government to help further reduce rough sleeping has been greeted as good news for Cornwall by St Austell and Newquay MP Steve Double.
The funding is part £25 million announced recently national which will will be allocated to 108 areas across the country, providing vital funding to help the most vulnerable rough sleepers off the streets as part of the Conservative Government’s £100 million plan to end rough sleeping by 2027.
Commenting, Steve said:
“This further funding for Cornwall Council to help combat rough sleeping is another step in the right direction.”
“Cornwall is bucking the trend nationally in our reduced numbers of rough sleepers and this goes to show that this funding from the Government is working.
"I get regular updates from the Homechoice team at Cornwall Housing on rough sleeping in Mid-Cornwall and look forward to seeing how they use this funding to support vulnerable people so they are able to get into stable accommodation where they will then receive the tailored care they need."
