Before a meeting yesterday between South West Conservative MPs and the Chancellor, the future of the Network Rail reports into the potential electrification of South West rail lines and a second route bypassing Dawlish had been in doubt following reports that the funding for them was not available.
Commenting, Steve said:
“I am absolutely delighted that following our meeting with the Chancellor yesterday, that he has listened to the very valid points we raised on the vital importance of these potential improvements to the South West rail infrastructure and acted accordingly.”
“Again we have shown that working together, the Conservative MPs for Cornwall and Devon are a powerful voice for our region which has for too long been neglected by successive past governments. “
“This Conservative Government has also shown that it can and will deliver on pre-election pledges and has again come through for the people of Devon and Cornwall. I look forward to continuing to work with colleagues both locally and in Westminster to ensure these studies take place and are followed up on”.
