The Conservative Group on Cornwall Council has welcomed £5million of Government funding from the Prime Minister’s New Deal for infrastructure that will be used to upgrade rural roads throughout Cornwall.
The £5million Government funding will be included with £500,000 funding from Cornwall Council.
Commenting, Conservative Group Leader Councillor Linda Taylor said:
“From Penhalvean to Gunwalloe, Venterdon to Lantrglos, and Tregavitihick to Drummers Hill, this funding is welcome for some of our rural roads for much needed upgrades and repairs.”
“Unlike the Liberal Democrat-Independent administration that runs Cornwall Council currently, we understand that it is important to work with the Government instead of currently criticising them and our Westminster representatives at every opportunity.”
“Along with the already record investment in our infrastructure in Cornwall, this additional funding from the Government is great news. The Conservative Group on Cornwall Council will continue to work with our six excellent Conservative Cornwall MPs to ensure that we attract the funding we need for the people of Cornwall, and work with them, not against them to ensure the money is spent where it is needed most.”
